067 - The true humbleness is nobleness

12-Jan-2019 in Christmas Time
Word of God
After this, Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea, where he spent some time with them baptizing. John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there, and people came to be baptized, for John had not yet been imprisoned. Now a dispute arose between the disciples of John and a Jew about ceremonial washings. So they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing and everyone is coming to him." John answered and said, "No one can receive anything except what has been given him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said (that) I am not the Messiah, but that I was sent before him. The one who has the bride is the bridegroom; the best man, who stands and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made complete. He must increase; I must decrease." Jn 3,22-30
Thoughts
Long time ago, a certain habit was in use in the noble people: when a young of a noble family was falling in love of a girl of lower class and wanted to meet her to marry her, instead of showing up personally, it was the family to manifest his intentions, entrusting the first contact to a fried, usually being of inferior rank. Often it happened that the girl was falling in love with the friend whom she had known who, as an honour man, had not to profit of the situation, by an orderly withdrawing to give chances to the noble man whom he was entrusted to represent. This is what happened between Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist. God entrusted to John the mandate to announce to the world that he was planning to become a relative with the mankind, via the mankind marriage with his Son, Jesus of Nazareth. The bride, on its side, entering into the divine family would have changed its name: it would have been called church, not mankind anymore. The passage of the today gospel says that John the Baptist has executed as a real gentleman the mandate to which he was entrusted: “I am not the Christ” but “I have been sent ahead of him”. The bridegroom is the person who is the owner of the bride; but the friend of the bridegroom who is present and listen to him, exults with joy because of the voice of the bridegroom: “Now my joy is full. He has to raise; myself, I have to diminish”. This is humbleness and it is it so much to become real nobleness.
